I was interested in airplanes and boats from an early age. My family built a home on a river/lake when I was a teenager, and we had a fairly nice fiahing boat with a 75 outboard motor. It was enough to pull my friends and I skiing. I can't believe I didn't go out in it more often, having been given the ability to do so on my own.
We used to go out “tubing” where the ski line was tied around a large truck inner tire tube, it was black and left marks on our swimsuits. We would sometimes double up with each of us with one knee in the hole and straddling the tube and one leg free for balance. We held onto the ski handle that was tied around the tube for dear life as the boat carved a serpentine line trying to throw us off. The river(lake because dammed by this point) was fairly narrow and there were trees and logs and vegetation near the banks, so we had to be careful not to get too close to shore. And we did this at night. Surviving my youth may be one of my greater accomplishments.
