This piece marked a new direction in my work toward use of drawing materials in larger paintings. The circular imagery and expressive nature of this work energizes the canvas and so I pushed back with neutral colors to set off the brighter ones. My personal journey through depression, especially through the pandemic, became a matter of living or dying to me. I follow a daily practice of becoming aware of my thoughts and where they lead, in order to choose life.
